Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.
About the position
As a COMMAND SOLDIER at SHG, you will be part of the unit's staff in the S4/6 section. S4/6 leads several supporting functions, including flight maintenance, communications/IT, logistics, and fuel. The work as a command soldier is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks will be to support the unit with communications/IT capabilities, both in everyday situations and within the framework of exercises and missions. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to help drive and develop the combat unit within your own function as well as in other areas.
Main responsibilities
- Support the operation of the unit's various command support systems.
- Support signal protection services.
- Train the unit's personnel on various communication systems.
- Be an integral part of planning and follow-up of assignments within the framework of exercises and missions.
- Contribute to the development of the combat unit and your own function.
Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.
Qualifications
- Completed basic military training/conscription with approved grades.
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Driver's license class B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Group leader training.
- Previous experience as a signalist, communications technician, or equivalent.
- IT training.
- Military driver's license.
- Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
- Previous international service.

- Employment form: The employment is based on the Armed Forces' collective agreement for the employment of group leaders, soldiers, and sailors (GSS/K). This may involve a 6-month probationary period followed by employment for up to 8 years with the possibility of extension for 4 years.
Information about the recruitment process
Applicants for positions at SHG, who have been assessed as suitable after selection, will undergo a selection process involving additional tests, interviews, and medical examinations. In connection with a possible call to selection, details regarding working hours, travel, equipment, and preparations will be provided. Calls for selection will be sent preliminarily during week 525 for the selection process in the autumn of 2025.
