Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is Hiring a Flight Maintenance Platoon Leader

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of education and competence.

About the Position

As a FLIGHT MAINTENANCE PLATOON LEADER at SHG, you will serve as the first-line leader for a platoon consisting of helicopter technicians, assistant mechanics, material technicians, and material mechanics. The platoon is part of the unit's Combat Service and Support (CSS) company. CSS includes several supporting functions, such as flight maintenance, communications/IT, logistics, and fuel.

The primary tasks are to plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of flight and material maintenance services for the flight system (helicopter 16) used within the unit. This is done in close cooperation with C CSS, Deputy Platoon Leader, and the S4 section in the squadron's staff. As a platoon leader, you bear significant responsibility for ensuring the personnel and material resources required to maintain the prescribed readiness of the platoon.

Main Responsibilities

• Act as the employer representative for the flight maintenance platoon.
• Lead personnel services in the platoon, both nationally and internationally, during exercises and missions.
• Lead, coordinate, and develop your own work team in the short and long term.
• Maintain and develop military skills both individually and within the platoon.
• Be prepared to support preparations and work within the S4 function.

Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications

• Officer, OF 1-2.
• Approved according to FM FysS.
• Driver's license class B.
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
• Swedish citizenship.

Desirable Qualifications

• Officer training with a military technical profile.
• Aviation mechanic certificate according to Category A.
• Aviation technician certificate according to Category B1.
• Previous experience working in leadership positions within flight maintenance at platoon, company, or staff level.
• Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
• Military driver's license.
• Previous international service.

Information about the Recruitment Process
