Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces system (FMSF), located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.

About the Position

As a MILITARY AVIATION TECHNICIAN at SHG, you will hold the role of aviation technician in the unit's aircraft maintenance function, which is part of the unit's Combat Service and Support (CSS) company. CSS includes several supporting functions, including aircraft maintenance, communications/IT, logistics, and fuel.

The work as an aviation technician at SHG is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks will be to perform preparation, line, and some base maintenance on helicopter 16 both nationally and internationally, during exercises and missions. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to help drive and develop the combat unit within your own function as well as in other areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct preparation, line, and some base maintenance on helicopter 16 both nationally and internationally during exercises and missions.
  • Contribute to maintaining a high availability of the unit's assigned helicopters.
  • Participate in developing the combat unit and your own function.

Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's work methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications

  • Specialist officer, SO 6-7.
  • Valid certificate according to EASA part 66 B1 or EMAR part 66 B1 certificate or in training.
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
  • Approved according to FM FysS.
  • Driver's license class B.
  • Swedish citizenship.

Meritorious

  • EASA part 66 certificate B1:3.
  • EMAR part 66 certificate B1:3 or B2.
  • Type course helicopter 16.
  • Trained technician in flight service.
  • Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
  • Military driving license.
  • Previous international service.

Information about the Recruitment Process
