Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within the FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and high levels of training and competence.
About the Position
As the Company Commander for the base company at SHG, you will be part of the unit's command organization. You will be responsible for a newly established base company that forms the foundation for the unit's support activities to operational units. In this position, you will lead and develop the company's personnel, operations, and capabilities to ensure that SHG can maintain high readiness and deliver high operational effectiveness.
Your day-to-day work will be varied and challenging; no two days will be the same. You will work in changing environments, both in peacetime and during exercises and missions, where your ability to lead personnel and operations under pressure will be crucial.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the base company's operations and personnel.
- Be responsible for the company's administration, economy, and equipment.
- Plan and conduct training for the company's personnel.
- Establish and develop the company's tactical and operational capabilities.
- Ensure the unit's grouping regarding establishment and operation during exercises and missions.
- Collaborate with other parts of SHG and FMSF.
- Participate in planning and development work at the unit level.
The work requires a high degree of leadership ability, good judgment, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. You will grow both professionally and personally in an environment where your leadership is valued and your contribution to the whole is clear. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, in some cases with short notice.
Qualifications
- Officer OF 2.
- Experience in a leadership position, preferably as a platoon or company commander.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Driver's license class B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience from FMSF.
- International service in a leadership position.
- Experience in establishing new units or organizational units.
- Training or experience in helicopter operations.
- Leadership of airbase units platoon/company or equivalent training.
- Experience in leadership during missions.
- Driver's license class C.

Information about the Recruitment Process
