Special Helicopter Group (SHG) - Staff Assistant
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.
About the Position
As a STAFF ASSISTANT at SHG, you will be part of the unit's staff. The work as a staff assistant is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks are to support the unit, both in daily operations and within the framework of exercises and missions. In your role, you will become an important part of the daily work and support both the staff and other units with various tasks – both those that are planned in advance and those that arise at short notice. Over time, you will have the opportunity to help drive and develop the combat unit within your own function as well as in other areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the staff and other subordinate units administratively regarding, among other things, expedition services, aviation operational material, production of digital and analog maps, bookings and orders, follow-up and planning in various data systems, handling files between different command support systems.
- Actively collaborate and coordinate within your function against relevant interfaces, both internally and externally.
- Work in a temporarily assembled staff within the framework of operations, nationally and internationally.
- Be a natural part of planning and follow-up of assignments within the framework of exercises and missions.
- Contribute to the development of the combat unit and your own function.
Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on your initiative, problem-solving ability, and willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the staff's working methods. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, in some cases with short notice.
Qualifications
- Completed basic military training/conscription with passing grades.
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Very good computer skills.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Driving license class B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Experience in staff work.
- Group leader training.
- Military driver's license.
- Previous international service.
Personal Qualities
The work requires you to be very proactive, with the ability to independently identify and solve problems. You also need to be very meticulous, with a sense of order and detail, but with the ability to adapt to changing tempos when the situation requires. As a person, you are unpretentious, social, and service-oriented, with the entire unit's results in focus. You have the ability to quickly adapt and solve your tasks, even in stressful situations.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during the selection tests.

Start date: By agreement
Employment form: The employment is based on the Swedish Armed Forces' collective agreement for the employment of group leaders, soldiers, and sailors (GSS/K). This may involve a 6-month probationary period and thereafter employment for up to 8 years with the possibility of extension for 4 years.
Information about the Recruitment Process
Applicants for the position at SHG, who have been assessed as suitable after selection, will undergo a selection process including additional tests, interviews, and medical examinations. In connection with any invitation to selection, details regarding working hours, travel, equipment, and preparations will be provided. Invitations to selection will be sent out tentatively during week 525 for the selection process in the fall of 2025.
