Special Needs Teacher at Fribergaskolan in Danderyd

Are you a special needs teacher with a desire to make a difference? From the autumn semester, we are looking for you who want to support students individually, in groups, and in the classroom. Together we create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students have the opportunity to succeed. Welcome to our community!

Fribergaskolan is a 7th–9th grade school with approximately 500 students and 65 staff members, located centrally in Danderyd near Mörby Centrum. The operations function well with very good results and many fine traditions. The school is very popular and has ambitious, friendly students with engaged parents who provide us with good support in our work. We have highly competent and dedicated staff, as well as good support resources in the form of a well-developed student health service and a permanent substitute.

We offer a nice working environment in our premises where we have invested heavily in a bright and open learning environment with fresh furniture and technical aids that make creative teaching possible.

We are organized in work teams, but sit in subject-specific workrooms where there is an open and cooperative climate.

Job Responsibilities

As a special needs teacher, you will become part of a well-functioning student health team and work closely with students, our two other special needs teachers, teachers, social pedagogues, and guardians.

Together with the other special needs teachers and social pedagogues, you will staff the school's studio, where students in need of pedagogical and social support receive extra support in their learning and development. You plan, conduct, and follow up on teaching individually and in small groups, and design additional adaptations and special support based on the students' needs.

The assignment includes conducting assessments, investigations of special support, action plans, absence investigations, and applications for operational support. You support teachers and work teams with teaching strategies, didactic choices, and contribute to creating accessible, structured, and predictable learning environments.

Together with the other special needs teachers, you are also responsible for handovers from grade 6, class division before grade 7, and attachments to upper secondary school applications.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a certified special needs teacher.
  • Have experience working as a special needs teacher at the lower secondary level.
  • Are well-acquainted with the school's mission and the current steering documents.
  • Have knowledge of inclusive and accessible learning environments.
  • Are proficient in using digital tools.
  • Have very good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

To thrive with us, you have a structured, method-following, and predictable way of working. You follow common routines, contribute to stability, and can be flexible when the situation requires it. You have good analytical skills, are emotionally resilient, and handle stress and challenging situations in a professional and low-affective manner. With a listening and considerate approach, you create a safe, clear, and accessible learning environment based on each student's needs.

You are engaged in your assignment and willing to collaborate with colleagues and the student health service. You contribute to a shared vision, take responsibility for joint decisions, and see the value of collegial learning, common structures, and development. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
