The Urban Development Unit currently has seven employees and a unit manager. The unit is part of the Property & Urban Development Department, whose task is to lead the administration's work from early urban development to the completed building. The department is also responsible for developing, managing, and leasing the administration's land and buildings. The City of Gothenburg currently has over 150 facilities consisting of sports, ice, and swimming halls, health and wellness facilities, ball fields, and sports areas. As the city continues to grow, we develop our sports areas and monitor and drive the administration's interests and issues in various stages and processes of societal development. The work is based on how we can best create and preserve conditions for good public health and meaningful leisure time for the people of Gothenburg and the sports associations. We are part of the city's long-term work to create a more equal and sustainable city and reduce differences in living conditions.

A major area of development in the coming year is to develop our existing sports areas to meet new demands and needs among the population and the sports associations. It is in our sports areas that the administration has the opportunity to co-locate and construct various types of sports facilities to create multifunctional and vibrant areas for recreation, individual sports, and to enable the activities of the sports associations.

As a Development Manager, you work, among other things, with long-term and near-term facility supply in sports areas as well as projects in early stages. The unit is also responsible for administration-wide work, participation in planning processes, and environmental scanning within urban development.

In the role of Development Manager, you initiate and lead the development of our sports areas to meet future needs. You produce development plans (development proposals) for the City of Gothenburg's sports areas, for example, Skatås and Ruddalen. In the work, dialogue, environmental scanning, and local knowledge are key factors. In this assignment, competence and the ability to meet the sports associations and other local actors is an important prerequisite.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university or college education as an urban planner, landscape architect, social planner, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have several years of experience in urban planning and working with place development, and have produced development plans or similar for towns, places, and/or sports areas. It is merit-worthy if you have knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, some knowledge of construction technical issues, and have worked in a politically governed organization. We also consider it merit-worthy if you have experience from work within, for example, societal development, public health, sustainability work, or area development.

You are also receptive and clear in your way of communicating and arguing. You thrive with many contact surfaces, can build trust, and have high cooperation skills. You conduct dialogue work and can express yourself well in speech and writing.
