Do you want to contribute your technical expertise in medical equipment to the operational capability of the Hospital Battalion? The Hospital Battalion is seeking a Technical Officer for the Surgical Platoon.

About the Surgical Platoon

The Surgical Platoon is a central part of the Hospital Battalion's medical care capability and is tasked with establishing, operating, and supporting surgical activities in field environments. The platoon helps ensure that qualified surgical care can be delivered close to the area of operations, increasing the chances of saving lives and reducing the consequences of injuries and illness.

The operations include planning, establishing, and running surgical treatment sites, as well as supporting military operations with qualified medical care. The unit is continuously trained and exercised to operate nationally and internationally, as well as under conditions where regular healthcare resources are limited or heavily strained.

Main Responsibilities

As a Technical Officer on the Surgical Platoon, you are responsible for planning, leading, and developing the technical service within the platoon's operations. You are a key part of the unit's ability to maintain material availability both at the garrison and during exercises and deployments.

You perform preventive and corrective maintenance, primarily on medical technical equipment, and may provide support in work involving electrical technology, electronics, vehicles, and communications equipment.

A Technical Officer is a vital part of the unit's ability to maintain material availability both at the garrison and during exercises and deployments. You also contribute to training in the operation and technical service of the equipment.

The position involves working close to the operations, where you support commanders and soldiers with technical competence, material handling, and maintenance issues.

  • Support to commanders within technical services.
  • Planning of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Training in technical systems and safety issues.
  • Follow-up and development of material availability.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Passed officer exam or specialist officer exam with a technical focus.
  • Swedish citizenship.
  • Class B driver's license.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Good physical fitness according to the Swedish Armed Forces' requirements.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is responsible, structured, and solution-oriented. You have the ability to independently plan and drive operations while enjoying working together with others. You must be able to convey information pedagogically in training situations.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and experience with medical technical equipment.
  • Experience in technical service within the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Focus on ground electro- and/or ground mechanics.
  • Swedish Armed Forces Electrical Installation in the Field (FMEAF) technical GK.
  • Operation of high-power systems.
  • Military driver's license.
  • Class C driver's license.
  • Forklift license.
  • Knowledge of using the PRIO and LIFT systems.

Employment type: Permanent, full-time 100%.

The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probation period for those not already employed by the agency.

Employment degree: Full-time. Travel and evening/weekend duty occur in the position.

Defence Medical Centre (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' centre for the defence medicine function, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a command with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces Combat School for Defence Medicine (FSS), the Function Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). The centre houses licensed health and medical personnel such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses, and more. Here you will find officers, reserve officers, civilian staff, and conscripts. The Defence Medical Centre is part of the Gothenburg Garrison.
