Do you want to contribute technical expertise to the operational capability of the Hospital Battalion? The Hospital Battalion is seeking technical officers for the Quartermaster Platoon in the roles of Land Mechanics and Land Electro.

About the Quartermaster Platoon

The platoon supports the company's medical units with transport, supply, consumables, fuel, materiel handling, and other logistical services. Additionally, the platoon is part of the Defence Medical Centre's wartime units, meaning they support materiel handling and transport.

The operations are characterized by sometimes high tempo, complex planning, and close collaboration with the rest of the company. The platoon is a prerequisite for the company to establish, operate, and maintain medical capability where it is needed.

Main Responsibilities

As a technical officer in the Quartermaster Platoon, you are responsible for planning, leading, and developing the technical service within the platoon's operations. You assist the platoon commander in leading technical personnel and ensure that systems and other equipment function correctly. This includes ensuring proper operation and storage, as well as carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on technical equipment and materiel.

A technical officer is a vital part of the unit's ability to maintain materiel availability both at the garrison and during exercises and deployments. You also participate in training regarding the operation and technical service of the materiel.

The position involves working close to the operations, where you support commanders and soldiers with technical competence, materiel handling, and maintenance issues.

Land Mechanics:

As a technical officer in Land Mechanics, you work with:

  • Technical service regarding vehicles and land materiel
  • Planning and follow-up of maintenance
  • Support to commanders within materiel and maintenance services
  • Coordination with workshops and other support functions

Land Electro:

As a technical officer in Land Electro, you work with:

  • Technical service related to power supply, power generators, and electrical systems.
  • Planning of preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Technical advice to commanders and users
  • Training in technical systems and safety issues.
  • Follow-up and development of materiel availability.

As a technician, you are crucial for ensuring the unit's technical equipment is functional during both national and international operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Passed officer exam or specialist officer exam with a technical focus.
  • Swedish citizenship.
  • Category B driver's license.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Good physical fitness according to the Swedish Armed Forces' requirements.

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is responsible, structured, and solution-oriented. You have the ability to independently plan and drive operations while enjoying working together with others. You need to be able to convey information pedagogically in training situations.

The role involves much about inspiring and motivating others to work with preventive maintenance; therefore, it is important that you have a focus on operations, are communicative, and enjoy creating new contacts. You must have analytical skills and be able to notice and act on anticipated consequences. Since you will handle complex systems, it is important that you are curious and creative.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in technical service within the Swedish Armed Forces.
  • Education and experience with a focus on Land Electro.
  • Education and experience with a focus on Land Mechanics.
  • Experience from similar positions.
  • Swedish Armed Forces Field Electrical Installation (FMEAF) technical certification.
  • Operation of high-power systems.
  • Education and experience with medical technical equipment.
  • Military driver's license.
  • Category C driver's license.
  • Forklift license.
  • Knowledge of using the PRIO and LIFT systems.

Employment type: Permanent, full-time 100%

The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the agency.

Employment level: Full-time. Travel and evening/weekend duty occur in the position.

The Defence Medical Centre (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' centre for the defence medicine function, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a command with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces Combat School for Defence Medicine (FSS), the Function Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). At the centre, there is licensed health and medical personnel such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses, etc. Here you will find officers, reserve officers, civilian staff, and conscripts. The Defence Medical Centre is part of the Gothenburg Garrison.
