Do you want to be part of our team working for a stronger defense of Sweden? The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and we are now looking for you who are an officer or a specialist officer. The Defence Medical Centre (FömedC) is the Armed Forces' center for the defense medicine function, located in Gothenburg. Defense medicine covers all activities conducted by the Armed Forces within healthcare, health protection, and veterinary medicine.

About the unit

The Swedish Armed Forces' Combat School for Defense Medicine (FSS) at FömedC in Gothenburg is a joint Armed Forces resource that conducts training, exercises, and drills in defense medicine under the surface, on the surface, on land, and in the air.

FSS consists of three departments: the Training Department, the Exercise Department, and the Simulation and Methodology Department. The Training Department runs courses and education, as well as quality-assures the defense medical education conducted by other units in the Armed Forces. The Exercise Department plans, conducts, and evaluates education and exercises within defense medicine. The Simulation and Methodology Department conducts training, education, and development of advanced defense medical simulation and pedagogical methods with the aim of training qualified medical units in military forces. The most advanced defense medical simulation is conducted through Live Tissue Training, which is used in accordance with the 3R principles, the Animal Welfare Act, and internal Armed Forces regulations.

The position is located within the Simulation and Methodology Department.

Main responsibilities

As the Deputy Head of Department for the Simulation and Methodology Department, your primary role is to assist the Head of Department in leading and distributing work within the department. This includes leading the planning, implementation, development, and follow-up of educational and exercise activities, as well as leading the staff within the department. You also have specific responsibilities within the role of exercise leader/course director during major exercises or training events.

Qualifications

  • Completed officer education OF 1-2/SO 6-7
  • Experience in leading personnel
  • Experience in planning and conducting education and exercises
  • Valid driver's license (Category B)
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English

Merits

  • Experience in leading and conducting education within defense medicine
  • Familiarity with using the Office package, the Armed Forces' internal systems PRIO and VIDAR
  • Previous military service abroad

FömedC consists of a leadership with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces' Combat School for Defense Medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). The center is home to licensed healthcare personnel such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses, and more. It also includes officers, reserve officers, civilian staff, and conscripts. The Defence Medical Centre is part of the Gothenburg Garrison.
