To carry out our mission regarding art, culture, nature and cultural heritage, the core operations consist of two departments: Art and Culture, and Nature and Cultural Heritage, each divided into several units. The Nature and Cultural Heritage department includes six museums and visitor attractions operated by the administration. To coordinate cross-cutting issues across the entire administration, we work in a matrix structure, which includes our work with municipalities, children and young people, the consolidated administration, and Agenda 2030.
Description
The Culture Administration of the Region of Västra Götaland (VGR) has been awarded ESF funds for digital competence development within the museum and library sector in West Sweden. The project runs for two years and consists of five competence development modules totaling 116 hours. The modules are designed to meet employees' individual competence development needs and cover areas such as basic digital competence, leadership and change management, digital pedagogy, digital communication, and open and linked data. Approximately 670 people are participating in the project. Participants have different professional roles, prior knowledge, and needs, and therefore only participate in relevant modules.
The project starts in autumn 2026. Initially, the project, learning modules, and communication will be planned. Thereafter, the competence-enhancing measures will begin.
We are now looking for a project manager responsible for planning, leading, and monitoring the implementation of the project. This is a central role where you will create structure, drive development, and contribute to strengthening competence within the museum and library sector in West Sweden.
Responsibilities
As a project manager, you are responsible for the project's implementation, quality, and progress. You lead the work in close collaboration with trainers, an administrative coordinator, and participating organizations.
The role includes, among other things:
- planning, leading, and monitoring the various parts of the project throughout the project period
- ensuring that the project is implemented in accordance with goals, schedule, budget, and requirements from the funder
- coordinating the project's learning modules
- leading and supporting the project group in daily work
- monitoring results, indicators, and quality in the project's various measures
- responsible for reporting, follow-up, and materials for steering and decision-making
- contributing to the development of the project's working methods, collaboration, and learning
- ensuring good communication between the project's actors
The workplace is located in Gothenburg. Travel within the region may be included.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have post-secondary education in project management, pedagogy, communication, or another relevant field. Other education or experience considered equivalent may also be relevant.
For the position, you must have:
- documented experience of leading projects, processes, or major development initiatives
- experience in planning, coordinating, and monitoring operations
- good ability to create structure and progress in complex assignments
- very good communication skills in Swedish, both oral and written
- good teamwork skills and experience leading work with multiple actors
- interest in competence development and change management
It is meritorious if you have experience of:
- ESF projects or other externally funded development projects
- work within public operations or politically governed organizations
- leading educational initiatives or competence development projects
- follow-up, reporting, and result-based management in larger projects
Personal Competencies
You are a confident and clear leader who creates engagement, direction, and good collaborations. You work in a structured and results-oriented manner, while also having the ability to see the big picture, quality, and details. You are responsible, communicative, and solution-oriented, and thrive in a role where you drive the work forward together with others.
Conditions
Project employment, 80%, 2 years.
Application Process
In this recruitment, we ask you to only attach your CV when applying. Instead of a cover letter, you will answer questions about your experience and competence. The purpose is to give everyone an equal opportunity to describe their background. We ask you to answer the questions as carefully as possible. Interviews are planned to begin in early September.
