Industrial Economics.
Subject Description
In practice, engineering work involves combining technology with economic and social aspects. To conduct technology-based businesses, execute projects, develop operations, lead teams and employees, etc., as an engineer, requires good knowledge in the subject area of industrial economics. For successful operational management, knowledge and understanding of both technical and economic aspects of decision-making are required. The courses this adjunct professor will teach focus on basic concepts and models to help engineers understand and handle economic, organizational, and managerial issues in technology-based and industrial operations.
Responsibilities
- Teaching at the undergraduate level, with a main focus on ME1003 and ME1041, including lectures, exercises, and seminars.
- Examination at the undergraduate level, such as grading exams, assessing assignments, and participating in the preparation of examinations.
- Course responsibility, development, and pedagogical renewal of the aforementioned courses.
- Administrative support.
Qualifications
Eligible for appointment as an adjunct professor is someone who has:
- Completed a degree at the first-cycle or second-cycle level within the subject of employment or has equivalent competence.
- Professional competence that is significant with regard to the subject content of the employment and the duties included in the employment.
- Shown pedagogical skill.
Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria for appointment as an adjunct professor at KTH are those specified in Section 1.5 of KTH's Regulations for Appointments, in relation to the established appointment profile.
It is of highest importance that the applicant has
- Pedagogical skill. The assessment of pedagogical skill should also concern the person's ability to develop as a teacher in the long term.
- Subject-specific competence relevant to the content of the employment.
- Professional competence relevant to the content of the employment.
- Professional experience outside higher education.
It is of next highest importance that the applicant has
- Competence regarding research and development work in the field of industrial economics.
- A PhD in the subject area.
It is also of importance that the applicant has
- University teaching education.
- Ability to collaborate with the surrounding society.
- Ability to develop and lead operations and staff, as well as teamwork skills. This includes having knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a special focus on gender equality.
- Administrative competence.
