About the position

Säffle Culture School has 11 employees who are highly engaged in various collaborative areas and who are passionate about both their subject and the school as a whole. We offer courses in music, dance, as well as visual arts and design.

The school's premises are centrally located, with each teacher having their own teaching room. We have an orchestra hall for rehearsals and concerts, as well as access to Media's large stage where the Säffle Opera is usually housed. We also conduct teaching in the municipality's outer areas.

Teaching is primarily conducted in the afternoons and evenings, although some daytime teaching also takes place.

Responsibilities

You will have primary responsibility for teaching violin and viola, and in some cases, cello. You will teach both in groups and individually, adapting to individual prerequisites, levels, and ages.

We believe it is important to contribute to and develop the orchestra activities, both string ensembles and folk music. We would appreciate it if you possessed breadth, both technically on your instrument and in terms of genres.

Ensemble playing is a natural part of the pedagogical progression students encounter, and you will help build this.

You will lead and participate as a playing teacher in both ensembles and orchestras, and take part in the culture school's joint concerts, productions, and shows.

The school year includes a string project that takes place during the day and is aimed at year 2 students.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have a university education in music pedagogy or a corresponding vocational education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Have good pedagogical competence and experience teaching children and young people. You have good ability to teach in groups and are curious about trying out new pedagogical ideas.
• Possess good instrumental technical skills and genre breadth, and have experience leading larger ensemble groups and different types of ensembles.
• Have good ability to collaborate with other music teachers and show willingness to engage in the work this entails.
