Job Description
As a Study and Career Counselor at Mälardalen University, you will provide qualified guidance, information, and support to both current and prospective students regarding academic studies. The role covers guidance before, during, and after studies, delivered through individual consultations as well as group settings, such as information and educational sessions. You will provide support in matters concerning study program choices, study planning, eligibility, admission, graduation, as well as personal development and career planning. You challenge with both mind and heart and maintain a student-centered approach.
You work closely with educational operations and collaborate with colleagues within Student and Learning Support as well as other functions within the university. The role also involves participating in student recruitment activities and contributing to making information about the university's educational offerings accessible to various target groups.
The work also includes processing and administration of student-related cases, conducted within the university's study administrative systems, such as Ladok, NyA, and Canvas. As a Study and Career Counselor, you work in a needs-based and process-oriented manner with the student at the center, respecting individual privacy and rights. You contribute to the development of operations by participating in joint forums, development work, and collaboration within and outside the university. The assignment also includes following developments regarding study and career counseling within the area of responsibility assigned to you, covering specific subject areas and programs offered at Mälardalen University.
The work is dynamic, and duties may change over time based on operational needs.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in Study and Career Counseling at the time of employment commencement,
- Experience working in a government agency and/or public sector operations,
- Very good ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish and English,
- Good proficiency in working with digital tools and communication platforms,
Meritorious Qualifications
For this position, the following experience is meritorious:
- Guidance work within higher education/university or other public sector operations,
- Pedagogical work within the higher education sector,
- Study administrative processes, such as admission, eligibility, and graduation in study administrative systems like Ladok, NyA, and Canvas,
- Student recruitment activities and information campaigns,
- Change management and process-oriented working methods.
