Your Responsibilities
As a teacher in the after-school center, you make a significant difference for the student. You are present throughout the day and gain a holistic view of how the student and the group function in the classroom and in after-school activities. This provides fantastic opportunities to analyze the student's needs and, for you as an educator, the chance to work with activities that strengthen the student and the group in their school journey. The students are at the center of focus, but your role also involves collaborating with other educators and the student health team at the school. You also maintain close dialogue with parents and sometimes with authorities.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with qualifications for work in after-school centers. You are a secure adult who is passionate about creating engagement among our students. It is an advantage if you have prior experience working in after-school activities, school operations, preschool operations, or with children and young people. To develop learning in the after-school center, you need to feel comfortable using digital tools and equipment such as tablets, interactive programs, and apps. Your good planning skills and solution-focused attitude are important so that you can actively connect after-school activities to the Swedish National Curriculum (Lgr22). We are constantly working to develop our after-school activities, and we want you to have the drive and engagement to be part of this.
What We Offer
We are proud to offer you, as an employee, professional development in the form of "fritidshemslyft" (after-school center upgrades) and networks where you can exchange experiences with colleagues within the city. For those who wish to develop in their role, there are many opportunities; team leader, digital pedagogue, and a trainee program for future school leaders.
Here you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our meetings with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approx. 11,500 colleagues around the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.

Recruitment Process
During weeks 29-30, we will have a summer break in the recruitment process. This means that we will have limited ability to answer questions and that any interviews will take place earliest from week 31.
We have a central and common recruitment process for teachers in after-school centers within primary school. This means that we interview and appoint our positions continuously based on the schools' needs. We update the advertisement continuously with open positions. You will naturally have the opportunity to request specific schools when you submit your application. If you proceed after a potential interview, you will have the opportunity to visit selected schools based on current needs.
If you are not a certified teacher in after-school centers, your application may be forwarded to principals who have temporary positions available.
If you currently work as a teacher in after-school centers at our schools but are interested in changing units, you need to apply here. However, you will not need to go through all stages of the recruitment process.
When you apply, you fill out a survey, where you have the opportunity to tell us which school or schools you are interested in. In your application, we would like you to attach:
- Your CV
- Your teacher certification including qualification list.
