Ungdomsfält Malmö (Youth Field Malmö) works with outreach and preventive measures for children and young people in various environments across the city. With the new Social Services Act, this approach is further strengthened, and the operation is now in a development phase. Therefore, we are recruiting more colleagues who wish to contribute to early and relationship-building work for young people in Malmö.

Job Description

Ungdomsfält Malmö is looking for more colleagues who can meet young people moving around the city in the evenings, nights, and on weekends. We work preventively with young people aged 12–21, focusing on those at risk of crime, substance abuse, or other behaviors that may hinder positive development. The Youth Field is divided into four geographical areas, with four staff members in each team.

You will work out in the field, with the majority of the work done on foot. You will engage in relationship-building with young people and their parents, both outdoors in the field, on social media, or by phone. You will identify young people at risk who can be referred to appropriate support services if needed. You will collaborate regularly with the police, schools, other units within social services, civil society, and other actors working with young people in the city.

The crime and drug prevention work is carried out from a clear authority role. The assignment also includes work at various large events for young people.

Youth Field operates based on various conversation models, including MI (Motivational Interviewing), and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in conversations and methods for outreach and relationship-building work. We work regularly with feedback, various method developments, and provide supervision within the teams. Youth Field Malmö is also part of Malmö City's crisis support organization and can be activated as crisis supporters during special events during working hours. These events can vary and require flexibility and psychological stability.

As an employer, we actively and systematically work for a safe and secure working environment. This means clear routines, team work, support from colleagues and managers, and a continuous focus on safety and security in field work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Have education as a social worker (socionom), social pedagogue (VET, 400 credits/2 years), or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in social work.
  • Have experience working with young people.
  • Hold a B driving license (automatic transmission license is sufficient).
  • Speak and write Swedish very well.

The following are meritorious:

  • Good knowledge of Malmö, both as a city and as a politically governed organization.
  • Experience in field work.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, other authorities, and civil society.
  • Experience in authority work within social services.
  • Knowledge of prevention work with the target group.
  • Training in MI, Repulse, Solution-focused, or other relevant training.
  • Experience following safety and security routines.
  • Experience documenting in various systems.
  • Language skills in the most common languages in Malmö.
  • Experience working independently and in teams.

You have the courage to work out in the field and be present in different environments in the city, even in socially disadvantaged areas. You feel confident in contacting young people and young adults and can build trusting relationships when meeting people with different life experiences.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in teams, while also being able to take responsibility and work independently when the situation requires it. You communicate clearly, are receptive, and contribute to professional and respectful treatment. The work requires flexibility, and you adapt easily to changing conditions in a developing operation.

The working hours are scheduled and irregular, primarily in the afternoon, evening, and on weekends (approximately every fourth week). Shifts can end as late as approximately 01:00 on weekdays. Individual shifts can be up to approximately 10 hours long, and on average, work is performed about four days per week.

We welcome your application!
