Special Education Teacher (Language or Mathematics) – We are looking for you!

Distra Gymnasium is a smaller upper secondary school located in Örnsberg.

We are now looking for a special education teacher. Teachers with all specializations are welcome to apply, but we will first consider candidates who are specialized in mathematics or language.

In this role, you will have significant responsibility for the school’s studio – our special pedagogical unit where 1–8 students participate. Here, you will support students in their schoolwork and coordinate interventions between teaching staff and special support services.

You are expected to take an active role in pedagogical assessments and coordinate parts of the administrative work within the framework of the student welfare team.

At our school, the focus is on well-being and safety, where everyone feels seen and has the opportunity to speak up. We have small teaching groups of approximately 15–24 students per group. This allows us greater opportunities to help each student reach their goals.

You should be curious and willing to meet students where they are in their development, as well as have the drive to create conditions for every student to succeed.

You should be accustomed to collaborating with and taking an active part in the school’s student welfare team. In this team, you provide crucial expertise and act as an important puzzle piece, collaborating with the school counselor, social pedagogue, special educator, principals, and career guidance counselor (SYV).

In our vocational education programs, most of our students have applied with a focus on a specific profession. This is where your challenge lies: to dare to challenge and support students in theoretical subjects. Our student body is diverse – including those who need basic skill training as well as those who need stimulation and challenges.

Our students should feel safe and welcome in a creative and developmental learning environment.
