Educator for Montessori Preschool Lilla Kvikkjokk - 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract

Montessori Preschool Lilla Kvikkjokk is now looking for an engaged educator who wants to develop together with us.

This position is suitable for you if you enjoy working closely with children and want to be part of a small operation where collaboration, participation, and development are at the center. Perhaps you are at the beginning of your career or have worked for a few years and wish to continue developing in your pedagogical work.

About Us

Lilla Kvikkjokk is a small Montessori preschool with 33 children distributed across two departments. The preschool has been in operation since 1991 and is run as a parent cooperative.

Our education is based on Lpfö18, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Montessori perspective of the child as competent, curious, and active in their learning.

The preschool is located on Djurgården in Stockholm, surrounded by nature. The forest, parks, and water are a natural part of our teaching and are used daily in our activities.

We work in small groups and strive for a calm, safe, and inspiring learning environment where every child has the opportunity to develop at their own pace.

As a small preschool, we have close collaboration between departments and close dialogue between educators and the principal. Here, we help each other, develop the operation together, and value an open and non-hierarchical work climate.

About the Position

The position involves working primarily with children aged 1–3 years.

Since we are a small preschool, we collaborate closely between departments, which means you will also encounter and sometimes work together with our older children aged 3–6 years.

As an educator with us, you will among other things:

• be an active and present educator in the children's group,
• contribute to a safe, developmental, and inspiring learning environment,
• support the children's independence and development based on Montessori pedagogy,
• participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the operation,
• document and reflect on the children's learning together with the work team,
• collaborate closely with colleagues and guardians,
• participate in opening and closing the operation (closing is always done together with a colleague),
• contribute to structure, order, and a well-functioning daily routine for both children and colleagues.

You will gradually have the opportunity to develop in the role with support from experienced Montessori teachers and preschool teachers.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children is meritorious but not a requirement. The most important thing for us is your engagement, your willingness to develop, and your interest in children's learning.

It is meritorious if you:

• have experience working in a preschool,
• have experience working with children aged 1–3 years,
• have knowledge of or interest in Montessori pedagogy,
• have experience with or interest in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication),
• feel secure in contact with guardians,
• have experience holding development meetings with guardians,
• have a special interest or competence in areas such as:
• music,
• drama,
• creative arts,
• movement,
• nature and outdoor life,
• language and literature.
