IES Bromma is a school for grades 4–9 with 950 students and 100 employees. We are a bilingual school following the Swedish national curriculum. IES offers an international school environment where safety, respect, and responsibility are core values. We believe in high expectations combined with strong support for each student's development.
International Swedish School (IES) is looking for an engaged and relationship-building School Counselor to work with students in grades 7–9. As a school counselor with us, you will play a vital role in strengthening students' well-being, safety, and conditions for achieving their goals.
As a school counselor, you primarily work with health promotion and prevention, as well as intervention measures at both group and individual levels. The aim is to create a good environment for students' health, learning, and development. You will have regular contact with students, parents, school staff, support organizations, and authorities.
You work through various types of conversations, both individual and group-based, and provide supervision and consultation to school staff. You act as a support when crises and conflicts arise. You participate in network meetings and have an active role in the anti-bullying plan. You are also responsible for attendance work at the lower secondary level in consultation with the Deputy Principal and the Student Health Team.
You are part of the school's Student Health Team, where you provide psychosocial competence. IES has a central student health department where the coordinating counselor is included. The coordinating counselor introduces new counselors, invites them to various meetings, and is available as support in daily work.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Work degree). Experience from working in schools and within social services for children, young people, and families is meritorious. You should have competence in counseling methods and experience using various types of counseling models. It is important that you have the ability to work independently and collaborate in a team, as well as good cooperation skills with other societal actors such as social services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS/BUP).
Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities, such as social competence, flexibility, and cooperation skills.
