Job Description
The Hultgren Laboratory is a KTH infrastructure open to students and researchers from universities, institutes, and industry. It offers a comprehensive set of instruments for sample preparation, material characterization, and measurement of material properties. Although the facility offers measurement services, it is primarily designed for independent use by researchers, who, after appropriate training, can use the tools and instruments themselves. Most of the research conducted at the laboratory focuses on metallic materials, but the equipment is also well suited for studies of a broad spectrum of other solid materials, such as ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, composites, and biomaterials.
The overall goal of the Hultgren Laboratory is to enable high-quality and significant materials research and education by providing reliable, accessible, and state-of-the-art experimental resources. A central part of this mission is to promote an efficient and well-functioning user environment that supports both scientific excellence and collaboration between academia and industry.
The unit responsible for the Hultgren Laboratory also plans and conducts educational activities, including undergraduate courses, where material characterization constitutes an important part of the education.
The Research Assistant will evaluate how more laboratory-based learning moments can be integrated into undergraduate education, focusing on material characterization and measurement of material properties.
