Residential Support Worker for Psychiatric Housing in Ulricehamn

The Welfare Sector consists of four operations: disability services, home help services and home healthcare, Individual and Family Care (IFO), and care and housing facilities.

IFO is responsible for the following operations: support for children, young people, and their families; support for adults; social assistance/financial aid; labor market measures; and reception of newly arrived immigrants.

The Housing Unit consists of two parts: psychiatric housing for social psychiatry and Homes for Care or Housing (HVB). As the current psychiatric housing will be supplemented with an additional facility in 2026, a recruitment need has arisen. The work group consists of a coordinator, care assistants, residential support workers, and night staff. In our operations, we base our approach on a systemic perspective and use low-affective interaction.

Job Responsibilities

The work consists of supporting adults who have decisions regarding housing with special services based on their psychiatric conditions, such as psychotic illness or co-occurring disorders. As a residential support worker, your task is to provide support in the home or in society, based on each individual's needs, to enable them to live their lives as independently as possible, whether it involves medication management or accompanying them to activities. The job also includes handling daily tasks at the housing facility. You will perform documentation according to the Social Services Act (SoL) in the form of creating implementation and action plans, as well as record-keeping.

The support is given in a way that develops and strengthens the individual's ability to structure their daily life in the short or long term and/or achieve the goals in assignments coming from case managers. We strive for a high degree of user influence, and support measures are designed and adapted together with the individual. As a residential support worker, you are part of a work team and scheduled according to the operation's needs. Working hours include days and evenings, as well as weekend shifts. Joint planning may occur.

Clear communication, collaboration, and strengthening the individual's resources are central parts of the work, with the aim of providing support based on the individual's needs.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who have a nurse assistant education with a focus on psychiatry; a specialist education in psychiatric nursing is meritorious. Through your education and professional experience, you have good knowledge of relevant legislation. You are a confident person and maintain calmness in stressful situations, are patient, and focus on what matters.

To succeed in the role, you need:

  • Category B driver's license (required)
  • Experience in social change and treatment work
  • Good structure and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration
  • Flexibility to adapt the workday to the operation's needs
  • Very good teamwork skills

We consider it meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working with co-occurring disorders
  • Knowledge of and experience with methods relevant to the target group
  • Education in systems theory and Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Employment Conditions

Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start date: Start as soon as possible after agreement.

An extract from the Police's suspicion and criminal record register according to the Act (2007:171) on register control of personnel at certain housing facilities receiving children will be checked before an offer of employment is made.
