Who will you work with?

We are looking for another fantastic assistant for our 18-year-old daughter with Rett syndrome. Our daughter lives with us, her parents and brother, in eastern Kortedala, Gothenburg. She is a curious girl who loves being social with others and moving around. At home, we dance a lot and enjoy adventures in the forest. She has a secret language that means she communicates with her body and eyes.

As her personal assistant, you will become part of her daily life. Your job will also involve caring for her basic needs (ADL) and daily hygiene. You will need to provide active supervision when you are together, and you will interpret and translate her communication to those around you.

Of course, you will get a good start with an introduction from both us, the parents, and the current assistants. Everything is done to ensure that you and our daughter get along well.

Scope of the position

We are now looking for a personal assistant who can work Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 18:00 every other weekend, during even weeks. We are a small group of assistants and would appreciate it if you could step in for extra shifts when needed. We would like you to be ready to start working from the beginning of September.

Who are you applying as?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a clever, enthusiastic person with a large dose of humor
• Is reliable, meticulous, and self-motivated
• Has fluent Swedish in speech and writing
• Can swim, as the girl likes to swim in the pool
• Is a non-smoker

It is also an advantage if you:

• Have experience with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), or the desire and commitment to learn this
• Have experience with eye-controlled computers and/or the communication tool PODD/VOCOCH

Since the job involves intimate hygiene tasks, we are only looking for female assistants.
