ABOUT US

Gothenburg City Mission’s protected housing has a high security classification and offers safe housing for women and their children, combined with individualized support measures and structured security work. Men in need of protection, with or without children, are offered placement in our external apartments. We have a trauma-informed approach and work with evidence-based risk assessment instruments. The operation is open 24/7 and accepts placements at all hours of the day. The goal of the operation is to give women, men, and children a life free from violence and to create conditions for an independent life in safety.

The operation is based on a children's rights perspective. Children residing at our protected housing, together with their parent, are placed with support from the Social Services Act. The child thus has their own legal status and is entitled to support and treatment measures, healthcare, and schooling. The operation maintains journals, creates implementation plans, and develops security planning regarding the child.

ABOUT THE POSITION

In our housing facility, protection pedagogues work with contact person responsibilities towards our placed women and men. A protection pedagogue with special responsibility for children is the children's contact person, under the supervision of the housing coordinator. Our supplementary staff supports the operation during intensive periods as well as during illness and leave. In close collaboration, you ensure that the housing becomes safe, secure, and maintains high quality. Volunteers also participate at the housing to enrich the daily lives of the residents.

Job duties include documentation work such as journaling. Eventually, it may become relevant to develop implementation plans and monthly reports depending on how familiar you have become with our work. You hold supportive conversations, conduct group activities, accompany as support during contact with healthcare and authority contacts, assist with applications, and perform practical household-related work in the housing and in our apartments.

WHO ARE YOU?

We are looking for you who are engaged and relationship-building. You have education as a social worker, treatment pedagogue, social pedagogue, or equivalent higher education or post-secondary education, or alternatively, you are currently studying in these fields. We see that you have experience meeting people in crisis with different prerequisites and backgrounds. You should be able to meet both adults and children from different contexts with difficult experiences in an unpretentious way. An attentive approach, great personal maturity, and the ability to create a safe and calm environment are therefore of great importance. You have the ability to set appropriate boundaries, create clarity and structure in everyday life, and can also support women in doing this.

You are secure, structured, and have good collaboration skills, while also appreciating independent work. You must have documented experience working with people in crisis, preferably in a supportive or changing role. A Category B driver's license and driving experience are required as the operation is geographically dispersed. You are practical and not afraid to step in where needed. Since pets are welcome in our housing, it is important that animal allergies do not pose a hindrance.

It is very positive if you have documented education and experience in the areas of domestic violence and honor-related violence. Furthermore, it is a great advantage if you have experience working with children who have witnessed or been exposed to violence. Education in TMO, MI, FREDA, SARA, and PATRIARK, as well as language skills in addition to Swedish and English, are meritorious.
