Your Responsibilities

The position of Professor in Plant Bioelectronics is located at the Laboratory for Organic Electronics (LOE), Department of Science and Technology. Research and education at LOE focus on electronically and ionically conducting organic materials with applications in a range of areas including, but not limited to, energy conversion and storage, printed electronics, photonics, and bioelectronics. The incumbent will lead an independent research activity within materials science, with a particular focus on polymer electronics, for example, the development of multifunctional organic semiconductor materials with electrical and optical properties specified for various purposes, primarily within electronics and energy applications.

The research focus of the position involves the development of plant bioelectronics and plant-based biohybrid systems, where organic electronic materials are integrated with living plants to, for example, monitor and modulate physiological processes in real-time. The research focus may also include exploring plants as active technological components, such as in adaptive, self-healing, and sunlight-driven living hybrid materials for sustainable agriculture, environmental sensing, and regenerative technologies.

You are active within the research community, participate in departmental activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.

Holders of the professor position must be able to participate in teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. For this position, teaching is conducted in English and primarily in courses at the doctoral and master's levels.

You actively contribute to the university's development work. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission. Collaboration in research is achieved by disseminating, making available, and utilizing research. Collaboration in education is achieved by planning, organizing, and implementing high-quality education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society.

The position may also involve leadership roles, such as unit manager, deputy division manager, or division manager, as well as participation in various steering groups. Specifically, the responsibilities include assuming a leadership role for plant electronics within LOE. The leadership will entail line management responsibility for all personnel within your unit and contributing to the direction and development of LOE as a whole. Additionally, it includes supervising master's students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs in their research activities and project management (coordinating both national and international research activities with members from several of LOE's units).

Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and general societal development that is relevant to your work.

You are flexible and capable of moving between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of the work group, collegial working methods, and social community. We consider your presence and activity essential for you to perform your duties in the best possible way and to thrive in the work community.
