Your responsibilities
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in energy system modeling for research related to future resilient, fossil-free, and flexible energy systems. The position is located at Linköping University, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Science and Technology (IEI), Division of Energy Systems.
The research is conducted within the framework of national and international projects focusing on energy system transition, electrification, flexibility, energy resilience, sector integration, and energy-intensive industry. The work is carried out in close collaboration with industry, public actors, and other research environments.
As a postdoctoral researcher, your primary role will be to conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, but will not exceed one-fifth of the working time.
Your qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a doctoral degree or hold a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.
It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the last day of application for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered as completed earlier, for example, in cases of various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in, for example, energy systems, energy technology, or another relevant area. It is particularly meritorious to have experience in: energy system modeling, modeling of flexibility or energy markets, industrial energy systems, energy resilience and energy security, Python-based analysis, optimization methods, work in interdisciplinary projects, and collaboration with industry or the public sector.
Great emphasis will be placed on scientific proficiency, analytical ability, and the ability to work independently and in research collaborations.
Since the research is conducted in international environments, very good proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
Your workplace
You will work at the Division of Energy Systems. The Division conducts research on sustainable energy systems from technical, economic, and societal perspectives. The research covers, among other things, energy efficiency, energy markets, electrification, industrial transition, flexibility, energy policy, and energy system analysis.
The current position is linked to research projects within resilient energy systems and energy-intensive industry, focusing on how future energy systems can be developed to combine robustness, flexibility, competitiveness, and sustainability. Examples of research questions include energy security, sector integration, industrial flexibility, energy storage, and handling disturbances in the energy system.
The project is conducted in collaboration with universities, research institutes, industry, and public actors. Among industry-related questions are, for example, modeling of flexibility and energy resilience in the pulp and paper industry.
About the position
The employment is for a fixed term of three years.
Start date by agreement. Employment as a postdoctoral researcher is full-time.
A security clearance may be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
