Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equal welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
The Vascular Surgery Section is part of the University Healthcare Unit, Surgical Centre in Umeå, and provides local and regional highly specialized care for Region Västerbotten and the Northern Healthcare Region. Here, we work with the full spectrum of vascular surgery, including both open and endovascular procedures. We manage diseases of the aorta, extracranial and cervical vessels, visceral and peripheral vessels, as well as varicose veins. The section also performs access surgery for dialysis and participates in tumor and trauma surgery in close collaboration with other clinics. We have regional responsibility for several parts of highly specialized care, including complex thoracoabdominal aortic diseases, graft infections, vertebral artery aneurysms, and carotid surgery. Research is conducted within the section, including AAA epidemiology, marker biology, and peripheral ischemia, and we welcome new colleagues who contribute to developing and broadening our research profile.
Today, the Vascular Section is staffed with a visiting professor, four consultants, two specialist physicians, and one resident physician. We have our own 24/7 on-call line and are not part of the general surgical on-call line. Residents in general surgery serve as primary on-call physicians in our line.
We are now seeking a specialist physician or consultant in vascular surgery to join our team at the Surgical Centre in Umeå. The position is permanent, but fixed-term employment can be discussed if desired.
For those relocating to Umeå, this role offers the opportunity to work with highly specialized vascular surgery in a university environment, while the city offers proximity to culture, nature, and a daily life with short distances.
