The centre provides care with various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation for diseases and injuries to the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, throat, and jaw. It is a county clinic providing highly specialized care for patients from the entire northern healthcare region, as well as conducting research, education, and development.
Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation offers both inpatient and day care, where we treat patients with spinal cord and brain injuries. Since April 2023, we have held permission from the National Board of Health and Welfare to provide national highly specialized care for spinal cord injuries within inpatient rehabilitation.

Job Description
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel safe.
In your role, you are responsible for the care and rehabilitation of inpatients. We provide highly specialized care, which means we receive patients at an early stage, often directly from intensive care, with a continued need for tracheostomy and respiratory support. We then follow the patient throughout the entire rehabilitation process until discharge/home. The goal is for the patient to become as independent as possible.
The work includes everything from personal care, medical handling, and supporting the patient in the rehabilitation process in a team with other professions. You plan and carry out medical nursing interventions in close collaboration with assistant nurses. As a nurse, you are an important link in a multidisciplinary team, which requires good communication and teamwork skills.
As a newly graduated nurse, you will have access to the region's introductory year for nurses during working hours, which gives you the prerequisites for competence development and reflection.
For nursing staff working in round-the-clock operations, Region Västerbotten offers increased flexibility in work through different working time models. The models focus on recovery through reduced working hours, increased opportunities to influence working hours, and higher compensation for work during inconvenient hours.
Supervision of students and colleagues is included as we are a university hospital with educational responsibility.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse.
You are an engaged and driven nurse interested in working with highly specialized care and rehabilitation. As a person, you are responsible and have the ability to work independently. Patients are with us for a long time, and the attitude towards the patient and their relatives is important for their rehabilitation. If you have previous experience in neurological rehabilitation, it is meritorious but not a requirement.
