General Practitioner for Primary Care West (Backen Health Centre)

Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equal welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.

Region Västerbotten provides comprehensive primary care services throughout Västerbotten County, meeting patients of all ages in both urban and rural areas. With 33 health centres and rural clinics, we are where you are. We actively engage in research and development and utilize medical results to offer high-quality care where the patient is involved. We want our employees to be involved, have influence, and feel proud to work in primary care. Key focus areas for us are offering a needs-adapted care service and continuing to develop digital services. We see great value in collaboration with other actors in society.

Primary Care West (PV West) is a base unit with four health centres in both the city and the countryside, distributed across four municipalities: Vindeln, Vännäs, Bjurholm, and Umeå. The health centres collaborate closely within the base unit. Good connections with local and regional traffic make commuting to, from, and between our units possible.

Within PV West, clinical teaching clinics (KUM) are operated at Backen Health Centre. The base unit, together with the Faculty of Medicine at Umeå University and Family Medicine at Region Västerbotten, is responsible for clinical research where the teaching of students in healthcare education is integrated into daily operations. Several doctors work within PV West, combining their role with patient-oriented clinical work and research.

Backen Health Centre is located on Umedalen in Umeå and has approximately 45 employees. Here, a knowledgeable and experienced staff works together to develop methods that promote patient safety, accessibility, and a good working environment.

We hope you become curious and come to us with your experience and personal commitment. Within our base unit, the work climate is good and the ambition is high. The role of District Doctor at Backen Health Centre offers an exciting and varied assignment for you as a specialist in general practice.

Job Description

As a District Doctor with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel safe. You play a key role in providing security and high-quality care throughout the patient's entire life. This involves caring for and treating a broad spectrum of health problems, including those not caused by definable diseases.

The tasks range from child health services (BVC) to elderly care (especially housing and home nursing). Within your competence, you therefore meet people of all ages with all kinds of health-related problems, where you independently assess and treat them.

You will be an important part of our medical collegium within the base unit, where collegial collaboration and involvement in development work are encouraged. The unit has an ongoing long-term improvement work focusing on wise clinical choices, as well as prioritizing chronically ill patients using primary care quality.

Your role also includes collaboration with other professional groups, where you, for example, are part of assessment teams together with district nurses and assistant nurses. You supervise medical students, ST-doctors, and AT-doctors.

Work at the Primary Care Emergency (PVA), primary care on-call duties, as well as rounds at special housing and/or family centers, as well as rotation within the base unit, may occur.

In this assignment, you are given the opportunity to work at the top of your competence, based on your profession, to contribute to ensuring that residents' needs are met.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed specialist doctor in general practice. If you have a genuine interest in, or experience with, supervising medical students and AT/ST-doctors and/or an interest in research, this is meritorious.

You are a present and positive person who, with expert knowledge and care, sees the patient and contributes to a holistic view that makes the care process better and safer. Furthermore, we would like you to be flexible and easily adapt your work based on the changing conditions of the operation and keep yourself updated on knowledge shared in the work group as well as routines that apply at the workplace.

You see the value in collegial collaboration and, together with your colleagues, you work for a good culture at the workplace. You strive to see solutions even under high pressure. You master both giving and receiving constructive feedback.

If you have previously worked in the medical record system Cosmic, it is valuable.

For placement within Primary Care, you are required to have a B-driver's license as you, in your clinical role, will work as a so-called back-on-call and perform home visits.

Attach your specialist certificate with your application.

Employment type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-09-01. Start date according to agreement, but no earlier than 2026-09-01.

If your merits have not been expert-reviewed previously, this must be done before starting employment in accordance with the Ordinance (1998:1518) on eligibility for certain positions within health and social care, etc.

Therefore, the following documentation must be attached to your application:
