The Youth Clinic in Umeå, together with the Youth Clinic in Skellefteå, is organized as a joint basic unit within the Primary Care Countywide mandate. Those of us who work here are highly committed to meeting young people and young adults in the best possible way at an early stage. We work towards common goals and contribute to a secure workplace together, which means we have a clear mandate and everyone takes significant personal responsibility for both their individual work and for good collaboration. We are a mixed team with different professional categories. The target group is primarily young people aged 16–22 who live or stay in Region Västerbotten. The operations are conducted in collaboration with the municipality's social services and the high school's student health services. Our premises are located in the center of Umeå.

Youth clinics work to promote young people's sexual, physical, mental, and psychosocial health.

In the area of mental health, we are an enhanced youth clinic from a national perspective. This means the clinic has enhanced competence to meet young people with mental health issues and offer early and shorter treatment interventions. Fundamentally, this means we work with young people in their entire context in an equitable and health-promoting manner. The youth clinic is a low-threshold service, and young people can seek help without a needs assessment. Youth clinics should also direct special interventions to young people with risk factors.

Job Description

In the area of counseling for mental health, everyone works with the same basic mandate regardless of professional background. This means we work together to maintain good accessibility and have a high awareness that our mandate involves working promotively and preventively by meeting, assessing, and offering treatment interventions. The temporary position involves counseling with a focus on individual counseling sessions at the clinic. We also offer digital visits and, in addition to physical clinics, have a digital Youth Clinic Västerbotten for all young people in the county.

Interprofessional collaboration with doctors, midwives, and municipal employees is common at the Youth Clinic.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist.

You should have experience and a great interest in working with young people, both individually and in a team. Your approach is salutogenic; you see possibilities, are solution-focused, and utilize the resources of the young person. You believe it is important to contribute to good collaboration with all professional categories at the workplace and with other actors.

You work independently and take responsibility for the whole according to the workplace's mandate. Personal qualities such as being responsible, flexible, and structured are important as the operations have high demand and are based on everyone contributing to common goals.

We are primarily looking for you who have experience working with young people/young adults. For example, if you have worked at a youth clinic or primary care first-line services.

It is also meritorious if you have worked in psychiatry or other operations with young people and young adults.

• Duration: Start date: 2026-11-01, End date: 2027-04-30.
• Working hours: Daytime.

This recruitment involves ongoing selection; any questions can be answered by contact persons from week 33.
