Your role with us

We are looking for an engaged and professional counselor who wants to work health-promoting and preventive with students' social and psychosocial development. The role involves contributing to creating a safe, inclusive, and structured school environment where students are given the opportunity to develop strategies for well-being, relationships, and learning.

The counselor is a central part of the student health team and works in close collaboration with school management, educators, and external actors.

The work is based on a balanced and professional perspective where the focus lies on:

• Strengthening the student's responsibility and participation in their own development.
• Meeting students with respect and clarity.
• Creating conditions for change through structure, dialogue, and follow-up.
• Contributing to long-term sustainable solutions rather than short-term interventions.

The role also includes individual conversations with students, focusing on strategies, responsibility, and development. You will also work with group interventions regarding, for example, social interaction, conflict management, and stress management. You will participate in the student health team's work and the school's systematic quality work. Guidance for educators in social and psychosocial issues is included, as well as collaboration with external actors such as social services and child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP) when necessary.

Who are we looking for?

You who apply have a degree in social work, and we would appreciate that you have documented experience as a school counselor and/or as a social secretary within social services. We want you to be flexible and have the ability to work with a resource-focused and solution-oriented approach, as well as the ability to create trust and clear structures in the meeting with students. If you have training in MI, DISA, or ART, it is meritorious.

We want you to be stable and secure in your professional role and able to work independently and take responsibility. Being secure in handling complex situations without becoming over-involved is a prerequisite for the position, which means you can set boundaries in a professional manner. As a person, you are analytical and structured and find it easy to collaborate.

We also want you to have the ability to:

• Strengthen students' social competence, self-esteem, and sense of responsibility.
• Contribute to a positive climate where students develop sustainable strategies to handle challenges.
• Work promoting, preventive, and corrective within the student health mandate.
• Be a professional support to students, guardians, and staff.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with both students and adults.
• Work professionally to strengthen the student's own ability to act.
• See the student's strengths and development opportunities – not just difficulties.
