The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

Job Responsibilities

Our department creates the prerequisites for operational activities within the Mid Sweden region. We support managers in planning and staffing operational personnel and contribute to ensuring that operations can be conducted efficiently, around the clock, every day of the year.

As a Personnel Planner, you will help continue to build upon our staffing planning and develop working methods together with the operational units.

As a Personnel and Staffing Planner, you play a central role with close contact with the core operations, where you ensure quality-assured and efficient staffing based on current laws, routines, and collective agreements. Your work is both strategic and operational: you handle short-term vacancies and staffing challenges such as sick leave, while simultaneously building competencies to solve long-term needs. Through proactive planning – for example, before holiday periods and training – you work towards set goals and create sustainable staffing over time.

In this role, you work close to the operations, which means you will be out in the operational units on a continuous basis to ensure good collaboration and close dialogue. The planning for this, as well as continuous operational visits, will take place in agreement with the relevant operational area. Other business travel may also occur.

To succeed in the role, you need experience in staffing planning as well as basic knowledge of labor law and contractual issues. Here, you will become part of an engaged team with great competence in staffing and planning.

You have an interest in helping your colleagues deliver solutions and support where needed. You work in a structured manner by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work efficiently. You are diligent with deadlines and set and keep timeframes. Much can change during a working day, so you adapt easily to changed circumstances. You might even appreciate flexibility in your daily work and see opportunities in change.

You work well with complex issues and can analyze difficult problems. In the role, it is important to be able to make correct trade-offs and prioritizations despite time constraints. In our staffing planning, many things happen at once, which means you need to keep your cool and focus on the right things even though stressful and pressuring situations may arise. As an applicant, you should have good experience and demonstrated ability within HR and ranking. It is important that you have good administrative skills.

For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and ability to develop.
