Municipal Controller for the Finance Department in Piteå Municipality

Job Responsibilities

As a Municipal Controller within the Finance Department, part of the Municipal Executive Office, you will work centrally in the organization with a holistic perspective on the municipality's finances. You will have an independent and qualified role with significant personal responsibility, collaborating closely with your colleagues and reporting to the Head of Finance. The role includes, among other things:

• Working with the municipality's financial issues, including borrowing, liquidity planning, and financial risk management
• Participating in and developing the overall budget process together with colleagues
• Producing analyses and forecasts to support strategic decisions and annual closing
• Drafting steering documents, guidelines, and policies within the financial area
• Contributing to or leading investigations and development initiatives
• Monitoring external developments and ensuring the municipality operates in line with current regulations and sound financial management

Collaboration with other economists and controllers within the municipal group is essential to achieving our goals.

Qualifications

You have an academic education in economics with a focus on finance, economic management, or another equivalent education. The department handles everything from budgeting, analyses, forecasts, to the municipality's financial administration. Therefore, you have experience in qualified work within one or more of these areas. Experience with financial issues, preferably from a municipality, bank, or another large organization, is advantageous.

As a person, you have an analytical and structured approach, with an eye for capturing the big picture and seeing trends. You are confident in your professional role and accustomed to high demands. You have a good ability to collaborate with others and are clear and pedagogical in your communication. You dare to trust your intuition, break patterns, and think new thoughts.

About the Workplace

The Municipal Executive Office works on behalf of the Municipal Board to lead and coordinate the municipality's finances, personnel, and operations. The Finance Department is one of six departments within the Municipal Executive Office and serves as a strategic support in financial and procurement processes, as well as providing support to citizens regarding budgeting and debt and consumer counseling. Our joint mission is to create welfare, public benefit, and sustainable societal development. Together with residents, businesses, and associations, we are developing Piteå into an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
