Workplace Description

Gubbängsskolan is a place where tradition meets the future. Here in the Farsta district, approximately 700 students from preschool class to grade 9 gather in an environment characterized by safety, curiosity, and a desire to learn. With certified teachers, dedicated leisure staff, and a clear vision – to be a school where everyone wants to develop and gains the desire to learn more – we create a daily life filled with both continuity and creativity. We are a traditional municipal primary school in the City of Stockholm with all the value that entails.

Responsibilities

As a Special Needs Teacher/Special Educator at Gubbängsskolan, you will have a central role in our work to create the best possible conditions for every student. The assignment spans organizational, group, and individual levels and involves that you:

  • Plan, implement, and follow up on support teaching for students in need of special educational support.
  • Document and conduct special educational assessments that form the basis for appropriate interventions and development at both individual and organizational levels.
  • Collaborate closely with school leadership, teachers, other staff, and the student health team to create a holistic view of the students' needs. As a special educator in the middle school stage, you are part of our local leadership group with team leaders and lead teachers.
  • Hold dialogues with guardians and external actors to ensure that support for the students becomes long-term and sustainable.
  • Contribute to health-promoting and preventive work, where you switch between a helicopter perspective and detail level to see both patterns and the individual's needs.
  • Drive development within the student health service work and are an active part of creating an open working climate where we learn and develop together.

About You

We are looking for you who, with great commitment and a genuine interest in student learning, want to continue our development journey at the middle school stage. We are looking for you who are a qualified primary school teacher with special educational competence.

You have good subject knowledge in core subjects and are, preferably, curious about how we create success for students in need also in Science and Social Studies. The focus going forward is, among other things, to strengthen our competence in meeting students with reading and writing difficulties and to develop mathematics teaching. Our use of digital aids should be further strengthened. We are also developing our work with mapping in core subjects and analyzing needs at the group level. At the same time, we continue to build good basic structures regarding routines and collaboration within the stage to meet all students' needs. Experience in the above is meritorious.

You are confident in a key role at the school with a very important assignment. You are passionate about helping students with special needs to develop and reach their full potential. You enjoy teaching and creating creative lesson moments. You have strong collaboration skills and thrive working closely with colleagues.

You can switch between a holistic perspective and detail level and see the value in combining documentation, guidance, and teaching. Good analytical skills are an important part of the position. You are solution-oriented, curious, and want to contribute to developing both the operations and yourself. Experience in development work is meritorious. You easily create good relationships with students, guardians, and external actors.

Qualifications

  • Certified teacher with special educational competence. Meritorious with broad certification in grades 4-6.
  • Several years of experience in engaged work in primary school and experience in being driving forces in developing teaching for all students.
  • Clear communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Digital competence and experience using modern tools in teaching and documentation.
  • Structured and skilled in organizational matters, but also able to work independently.
