A Day at Work

Torekällgymnasiet is Södertälje's municipal upper secondary school, offering introductory programs and national vocational preparatory programs. We have approximately 300 students, and because we are a small school, it is easy to get to know all students and staff.

We are looking for a colleague with qualifications in mathematics and natural sciences/other subjects. Teaching can take place on both national upper secondary programs and introductory programs. The position is a permanent, full-time role starting in week 33.

We are currently engaged in exciting development work at the school, with mathematics being a prioritized subject. Therefore, we are looking for you who are motivated to drive and develop mathematics teaching forward together with colleagues and students. The school leadership is driving this work, but support is also available in the form of lead teachers who lead and drive collegial and collective learning. The school also has good support from the Resource Center at the Education Office, where development teachers provide support, and we have an experienced student health team that can contribute perspectives to the work. We would appreciate it if you had prior experience in driving development work.

We work on various exciting value-creating learning projects at the school. Together with your colleagues, you will develop this work and find more ways to motivate students and help them reach their goals. Since collaboration with other teachers and professions is a large part of the job, we value social and communicative skills highly. You need to be grounded in a low-affective approach, both as an attitude and in practice. At the school, we have a strong student health team with whom you will collaborate closely. Here, study coaches are employed to promote attendance and study motivation, taking over many traditional mentor duties such as administration regarding absence management. This frees up time for the teacher to focus on what directly relates to learning. It is crucial that you have a flexible approach where you put the student's best interests at the center and are ready to guide students in various ways toward different goals using different strategies.

Who are you?

Requirements:

• Degree with upper secondary teacher certification in mathematics and natural sciences/other subject.
• Education in or documented experience of low-affective interaction.

Torekällgymnasiet is Södertälje's municipal vocational upper secondary school. The school has a strong connection to working life and industries. With us, we focus on professional pride and create a holistic education through collaborations between subjects in projects linked to professions.

After completing their education, students can go directly into working life or continue their studies. At Torekällgymnasiet, students can also combine their studies with elite sports by applying for NIU education. The school also offers vocational introductory programs within construction and civil engineering, care and assistance, and children and leisure.
