About the Workplace

Adapted Primary School in Lerum consists of three units: Adapted Primary School Knappekullaskolan (grades 1-5), Adapted Primary School Centralskolan (grades 1-5), and Adapted Primary School Rydsbergsskolan (grades 6-9). Each school unit is well integrated into its respective school, and there is a conscious effort to ensure that the adapted primary school is visible and involved in the development processes occurring at each school. Adapted Primary School in Lerum has a well-developed systematic quality work based on scientific grounds, where the development of teaching occurs in practice communities with an approach of action research. Our prioritized goals at the units are an accessible learning environment and a scientific approach. We are facing an exciting project where a completely new F-9 school will be built in the near future. When the school is completed, the adapted primary school in Lerum from grade 1-9 will be consolidated at one single school. The position is at Adapted Primary School Knappekullaskolan.

Job Responsibilities

You will work as a resource pedagogue in a small class for students with intellectual disabilities (IF-diagnosis) and autism. Your task is to support the students in their learning and in social contexts during the school day and at after-school care, together with other employees and under the guidance of the special education teacher. You will also take responsibility for ensuring the students' learning environment. As a resource pedagogue, you need to take responsibility for being well familiar with the activities that are to be carried out throughout the entire school day. You are therefore expected to be a skilled and unpretentious team player, a good listener who always wants the best for the student. You are also a pedagogical role model regarding communicating in ways other than spoken language.

Qualifications

We are looking for a resource pedagogue with a curiosity to find the students' driving forces for learning. You should have university credits in pedagogy, behavioral science, or social work. You can also apply for the position if you have a pedagogical education from a university college of applied sciences (e.g., activating pedagogue, social pedagogue, or support pedagogue). Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and experience working with children and young people within Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are meritorious. You are expected to have a good ability to collaborate with both students, other staff, and guardians. You should be skilled at creating conditions for students to succeed in functioning in groups.
