About Us

As a mother tongue teacher with us, you will teach students from all schools in the municipality in their mother tongue. The teaching is located at Fuxernaskolan. You will become part of the multilingual unit and collaborate closely with the head of student health services, who is responsible for the operations. Together, we work to strengthen students' language development and contribute to their knowledge development in school.

The purpose of mother tongue instruction is to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of and about their language. The mother tongue is of great importance for children's language development as well as their identity, personality, and cognitive development. A well-developed mother tongue provides good conditions for learning Swedish, other languages, and other school subjects.

The teaching follows the curricula for compulsory school and adapted compulsory school, and grades are set according to the same principles as in other subjects.

Your Role

As a mother tongue teacher, you are responsible for teaching the subject of mother tongue for students in grades 1–9 in the municipality's compulsory schools and adapted compulsory school.

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for mother tongue teaching for students in grades 1–9.
• Plan, implement, and follow up on teaching according to current regulatory documents.
• Work with formative assessment and grading.
• Create an stimulating learning environment that supports students' linguistic and personal development.
• Collaborate with students' guardians and the school's other staff.
• Use digital tools as support in teaching.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a certified mother tongue teacher or has other academic education that can be considered suitable for pedagogical work.
• Has experience of teaching in the Swedish school system.
• Has documented good knowledge of Swedish and Somali.
• Is computer literate and accustomed to working with digital tools.

We are looking for someone who is structured and self-reliant, as well as having good collaboration skills. You also have good ability to lead and motivate students in their learning. Personal suitability is highly valued.
