Through collaboration and a joint focus on quality, clarity, and equity, we create an attractive and developmental workplace based on scientific grounds and systematic improvement work.

Your Assignment

In the role of Special Education Teacher, you work with students in grades Pre-K to 6 who are in need of special support in mathematics, language, writing, and reading development. You are part of the school's student health team and a special education teacher team consisting of three special education teachers and one special educator. Together with teachers, students, and guardians, you create the best conditions for student learning through support measures, adaptations, and good relationships. Another special education teacher works at the school focusing on grades Pre-K to 6. You are grade coordinators and are responsible for two grades each, where you support and act as a sounding board for these.

As a special education teacher, you work actively with teaching and support students through individualized measures in the classroom, in smaller groups, and individually. At the same time, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching based on the curriculum and school law. With security and engagement, you mentor and support colleagues and work teams, contributing special pedagogical competence regarding adaptations, teaching strategies, and learning environments. You keep up to date with current research in special pedagogy and share your theoretical knowledge and pedagogical competence. You observe, document, follow up, write action plans, apply for additional funding, and prepare action programs and pedagogical investigations of students' need for special support. Furthermore, you conduct and analyze screenings and other mappings.

The work takes place in close collaboration with the special education teacher team, teachers, school leadership, and our well-functioning student health team. Together, you work across professions with remedial, promoting, and preventive measures based on the students' needs. You lead meetings with students and guardians to inform about and discuss chosen measures and collaborate regarding the students' needs with other actors, both within and outside the school.

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

  • Teacher certification with eligibility to teach in grades Pre-K to 6.
  • A Special Education Teacher degree with specialization in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development.
  • Experience working as a teacher in lower and/or middle school.
  • Experience working as a special education teacher in language, writing, and reading development and/or mathematics.
  • Knowledge and experience in mapping needs and documenting support measures, such as pedagogical investigations and action programs.
  • Good digital competence with experience working with digital pedagogical tools.
  • Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you also have experience mentoring teachers.

Is this you?

To succeed in the role, you need to be able to collaborate, communicate, and build good relationships with students, guardians, colleagues, and school leadership. Your relationship-building skills create security, trust, and a good foundation for joyful learning. You are a secure and independent special education teacher who, with the support of your profession and special pedagogical competence, dares to act and make decisions. At the same time, you are flexible and solution-oriented and adapt easily to changed circumstances and students' needs. With a good holistic view, you take the larger perspective into account in actions and decisions, always with the best interests of the students and the organization in focus. You work based on set goals and support students in reaching them, while also having the ability to set, analyze, and evaluate goals. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
