Work with Residential Support at Sötåsen – Part of the Region of Västra Götaland

With the goal of "Developing world-class competence for a sustainable future and a good life," the Nature Management Administration runs education programs in upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, adult education, and university college. The nature schools Axevalla Horse Centre, Svenljunga, Sötåsen, Uddetorp, and the Biological University College serve as competence centers for the growth and development of green industries. Together with businesses and researchers, the administration drives energy projects and pilot activities at the forefront on the schools. The Nature Management Administration is part of the Region of Västra Götaland.

Description of the Workplace

In the beautiful nature of Sötåsen outside Töreboda, you will find a center for ecological and sustainable nature farming. Here, organic farming, certified animal husbandry with cows, pigs, and sheep, and large-scale organic garden cultivation are practiced. The facility also has a dog training area and an animal house with everything from snakes and reptiles to rodents and birds. At Sötåsen, you simply find most things related to animals and nature.

Here, one can study the Nature Program with a focus on agriculture, animal care, and gardening, with a total of 11 different career paths. There is also an adapted upper secondary school with a focus on Forest, Land, and Animals. We offer all our students the opportunity to live in the boarding school. The overall goal of the activity is to support students in achieving their school goals and to ensure that students feel safe. The work therefore involves supporting and motivating students in their development and learning, as well as creating conditions for success in school. To achieve school goals, a student may need enhanced residential support.

Main Responsibilities

You work with a small group of students who need extra support to manage their daily lives, both socially and with planning and implementation of various daily routines. We work based on implementation plans commissioned by the social services in the student's home municipality. You lead activities or support the youth in participating in them.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have studied social pedagogy or have experience within residential support. You may also have education or professional experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Have experience working with youth with neuropsychiatric functional variations and intellectual disabilities.
• Hold a B-driver's license for manual transmission.
• Have basic IT knowledge.
• Are accustomed to social documentation according to the Social Services Act (SoL).

Personal Qualities

We place great emphasis on a positive attitude and that you have a service-oriented and responsible mindset. You have strong social skills and find it easy to build relationships with young people and meet each individual based on their specific needs. You have good teamwork skills and are flexible, patient, and proactive with a low-affective approach. You need to be able to work independently and take initiative. You should also feel confident leading evening activities for young people. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Conditions

The position is a fixed-term employment with a start date of August 10th or as agreed until December 31st. The working hours are mainly scheduled for evenings and nights on weekdays. Interviews will be held continuously during the application period. To obtain employment within the school, a certificate of good conduct is required, which you can apply for via: School or preschool, e-service | The Swedish Police (polisen.se).
