Your responsibilities
You will work within the research area of additive manufacturing and composite materials, with a focus on the development of next-generation modular drone systems. The project is part of a larger research program concerning drone swarms and system-of-systems. Your work will specifically focus on 3D printing of composites and related manufacturing processes, including:
The work is carried out in close collaboration with researchers in design optimization, aerodynamics, and sensor systems.
As a doctoral student, you will devote yourself to your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participation in other departmental duties, up to 20% of full-time employment.
Your qualifications
You have completed an advanced level degree in materials engineering or completed courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at an advanced level, or have otherwise acquired substantially equivalent knowledge. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.

Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required. We are looking for someone who is analytical, independent, and has good collaboration skills. You are curious, structured, and interested in working in interdisciplinary research environments.
Your workplace
You will work at Linköping University (LiU) within the Division of Structural Materials (KMAT), which is part of the Department of Science and Technology (IEI). KMAT conducts internationally leading research and education in advanced structural materials, including high-temperature materials, additive manufacturing, and composites. As a doctoral student, you will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment with strong links to national and European research initiatives, where experimental, numerical, and data-driven material development is integrated.
About the employment

The employment is fixed-term for four years full-time. You will initially be employed for one year, after which the employment will be renewed for up to two years at a time, based on the achieved study plan. Extension of employment up to five years occurs based on the extent of teaching and departmental duties. Further extension may occur under special circumstances.
