At Theme Children (Tema Barn), unique interdisciplinary research is conducted that combines a focus on children's agency and social interactions with a critical and theoretical awareness of the varying meanings of children and childhood across time and space. The department offers doctoral education and undergraduate education with a focus on issues related to children and childhood. Within the undergraduate education, an international master's program is offered, as well as standalone courses and teacher education courses. The staff at Theme Children share an interest in critical approaches to cultural, social, political, and historical processes.
We are now looking for a professor who, in their role as a research leader, can build an interdisciplinary research area through which Theme Children can continue to broaden and develop its activities. We ask that you describe and justify what this area should be in your application.
We are looking for someone with strong drive, willingness, and capacity to collaborate both within the department, across the university, and in external national and international networks. It is also a prerequisite that the holder of the position is skilled at applying for and obtaining external research grants so that the area can grow. The work also involves following developments nationally and internationally within your field, as well as orienting yourself in the field of child and youth studies and other societal developments that are relevant to the research.
The duties include taking a leading role, together with other professors, in creating cohesion and a scientific foundation to lead Theme Children into the future. This includes contributions to the department's core activities: research, teaching, mentorship, knowledge exchange, publication, and academic leadership. You are active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, lead research projects, communicate results through academic publications, and care for academic collegiality.
The main duties of this position are research, research leadership, teaching at the doctoral level, and doctoral supervision. The position also includes some teaching, including supervision at the undergraduate and advanced levels, in both Swedish and English. The distribution between duties may vary depending on research projects and teaching needs.
We are looking for someone who is flexible and capable of moving between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development, collegial working methods, and social community of the work group. We consider your presence and activity at the workplace essential for performing your duties in the best way and thriving in the work community.
As the holder of this position, you are expected to actively contribute to the university's development work and collaboration. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission. Collaboration in research occurs by spreading, making accessible, and utilizing research. Collaboration in education occurs by planning, organizing, and implementing good collaboration in educational contexts.
