Kunskapsskolan Motala is looking for an engaged special needs teacher
We are currently seeking an engaged and confident special needs teacher for grades 4–9 who wants to help shape a stable, inclusive, and health-promoting learning environment for our students. As a special needs teacher at Kunskapsskolan, you work based on our clear vision where the student's health, learning, and development are seen as an indivisible whole. Your role is central in ensuring that students' needs for pedagogical interventions and adjustments are met, while also contributing to ensuring that both students and staff have the right conditions in our pedagogical environment.
Your assignment largely involves driving and developing preventive and health-promoting student welfare work. Under the principal's leadership, you ensure that the owner's intentions are followed and that you provide the school management and pedagogical staff with valuable information, advice, and investigations regarding issues concerning student learning and school situation. By adding special needs pedagogical competence to daily work and overall planning, you become a key player in identifying and removing barriers to learning and in developing accessible learning environments.
In daily work, the role involves a wide range of tasks. You conduct pedagogical assessments, investigate the need for special support, and create, follow up on, and evaluate action plans. You observe teaching and provide follow-up supervision and consultation to the school's teachers and personal mentors at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You actively work on issues concerning study environment, adjustments, and inclusion, and contribute to ensuring that the school's digital tools on Kunskapsporten are used accessibly by everyone. Collaboration is a natural part of your daily routine, as you act as a link between the student welfare team, the pedagogical staff, and the home, as well as collaborating with external actors when necessary to ensure student development.
The position may also include duties as a special education teacher. Depending on your specific competence profile and the school's needs, this means that in addition to the overarching and consultative work, you also work closely with students on direct special pedagogical interventions. You contribute to developing students' specific abilities, conduct targeted teaching, and support teachers in designing concrete subject didactics for students in need of special support.
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, you have an academic degree in special needs pedagogy and preferably professional experience working with children and young people in primary school. You are well-versed in LGR-22 (the Swedish Curriculum for Compulsory School, Preschool Class and After-School Centre) and have a very good ability to supervise and consult colleagues, as well as being comfortable assisting teachers in meetings with guardians. As a person, you have an inclusive approach and a strong belief that all students want to and can succeed under the right conditions. With us, you will have meaningful work in an organization that prioritizes cooperation, teamwork, and continuous development of the learning environment.
