We are now looking for a Research Assistant to be placed at the Department of Molecular Physics and Nanoscience within the Division of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM).

About the job

Your responsibilities will include the functionalization and characterization of nanoparticles for targeting cancer cells, as well as studies on quantum dots as fluorescent signal carriers for fingerprint visualization in collaboration with the National Forensic Centre (NFC). The work involves the synthesis, surface modification, and optical characterization of nanomaterials.

About you

We are looking for a candidate who is currently completing or has recently completed a Master of Science degree in Chemical Biology, Technical Biology, or a related field. You should have technical and laboratory experience with nanomaterials, particularly nanoparticles for imaging purposes, including quantum dots regarding fluorescence.

Regarding educational level, you should be in the final stages of your Master of Science studies or have recently obtained a degree in Chemical Biology, Technical Biology, or equivalent.

You must have experimental experience in nanomaterial characterization. Experience with relaxivity measurements, fluorescence spectroscopy, and fluorescence microscopy is required.

It is an advantage if you have experience with the functionalization of nanoparticles with biomolecules, such as antibodies or proteins, as well as the characterization of biomolecular interactions using methods such as SPR or similar techniques.

Your workplace

You will work at the Department of Molecular Physics and Nanoscience, a research environment focused on nanomaterials for medical, biological, and environmental applications, in close collaboration with the National Forensic Centre (NFC). This recruitment aims to secure technical competence in our focus area: the design, functionalization, and characterization of customized nanoprobes for bioanalysis, biomolecular interactions, and advanced biomedical imaging.

About the employment

Fixed-term employment for 6 months. Full-time (100%).

Start date: According to agreement.
