Gotland's Resource School welcomes students with extensive needs for special support. We currently have approximately 60 students and about 30 employees. The students require adjustments in the pedagogical, social, and physical learning environment that are so significant they cannot be met in a regular school setting. The Resource School features smaller student groups, specialized teacher competence, and the ability to provide individually tailored support.
The Speech and Language program for grades F-6 is located at Väskinde School. We are now looking for an engaged employee who wants to be part of the development of Gotland's Resource School.
Your responsibilities
The Speech and Language classes welcome students with general speech disorders. All staff work with language and communication throughout the entire school day. A language-developing approach in all subjects is necessary for students to succeed and reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The school uses adapted learning materials, visual aids such as picture support, structural support, and sign support.
You will teach in grade 2 and serve as a mentor. The work involves close collaboration within the work team, with special education teachers, and speech therapists. Collaboration and collegial exchange also take place with Speech and Language grades 7-9 and with other units within Gotland's Resource School.
Who are you?
You must be qualified and hold a teaching license. Qualification in Swedish as well as knowledge in reading and writing acquisition and language-developing methods are required. Experience working with students with speech disorders and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), as well as education in special pedagogy, is advantageous.
You are good at building relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are accustomed to adapting and relating to different situations and developing learning environments based on students' varying needs.
You are flexible, have good collaborative skills, find it easy to build good relationships, and collaborate with students, guardians, the work team, the school's student health team, and school management. You view documentation and assessment of students' knowledge development as a natural part of your work. Personal suitability is also highly valued.
