Gamla Uppsala School is a two-parallel school with approximately 315 students and 40 staff members. Since the autumn term of 2025, the school has been evacuated to temporary modules at the IFU Arena while waiting for the new school building to be constructed, which is planned to be completed by 2028.

The position is a temporary assignment (substitute) from 2026-08-10 to 2026-12-22, with possible extension.

Description of duties

You work closely with students and colleagues to contribute to a safe, structured, and developmental day.

During school hours, you support individual students or small groups in the classroom. You contribute to a conducive learning environment and serve as a pedagogical and social support based on the students' needs. You collaborate with teachers on planning and implementation and are present during breaks and transitions to create safety and structure.

The role also includes supporting students with specific medical needs, such as epilepsy and diabetes, in collaboration with the work team. This involves following individual action plans, being attentive to the student's well-being, and acting according to established routines. You contribute to a safe and secure school day through close cooperation with student health services and guardians. Introduction and support for the role are provided.

At the after-school center (fritidshem), you participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating pedagogical activities. You support students in play and social interaction and contribute to an inclusive and positive environment. You are a clear and secure adult who builds good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians, and works towards a respectful and trusting climate.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have pedagogical education directed towards younger children/students and experience in pedagogical work at an after-school center.

You have good pedagogical insight and understand how children acquire knowledge based on their different prerequisites, and you adapt activities and your approach accordingly. You are relationship-building and create safe, trusting relationships with children, guardians, and colleagues. You also have good collaboration skills, contribute to a positive environment, and are involved in creating a meaningful and developmental activity at the after-school center.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must also be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.

Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed on the war establishment (krigsplacering).
