About American High School, Uppsala

The school is centrally located in the Luthagen area. In the autumn, the school will enter its fifth academic year and will then have approximately 220 students studying on the Natural Science, Economics, or Social Science programs. Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish by a competent teaching team with a strong sense of community.

About the role

As a teacher, you will teach our students in chemistry and biology. We are also currently looking for teachers in mathematics and physics. If you are interested in teaching multiple subjects, please mention this in your application.

You will be responsible for planning, conducting, assessing, and evaluating your own teaching. You are expected to lead the lessons based on our pedagogical structure, for which you will receive guidance. You will work closely with a dedicated and cohesive teaching team, where collaboration and collegial learning are a natural part of everyday life. You will teach in a digital environment using digital learning materials in combination with traditional literature. The teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English.

The position also includes mentorship for a class.

The position is a permanent employment of 50-75%, or alternatively up to full-time depending on the combination with other teaching subjects, with an initial probationary period of 6 months. Start date: August 3, 2026.

Your profile

The position requires a Swedish teaching license, as well as qualifications to teach chemistry and biology at the upper secondary level. It is also highly meritorious if you have experience teaching at the upper secondary level. You have a strong commitment to teaching and want to contribute to developing the operations together with a strong team of colleagues, and you share our pedagogical view:
