WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

As a study and career counselor in SO2, you will be part of our student health team, which includes school administration, special needs educators, special teachers, school psychologists, school nurses, and school counselors. You will have the opportunity to work closely with students, staff, and guardians. As a study and career counselor in SO2, you are expected to inform, guide, and motivate students regarding future studies and career choices. They should acquire the knowledge they need to make well-founded decisions about their future. You will collaborate with teachers and other school staff.

As a study and career counselor, you are responsible for:

• Ensuring that the principal's area's plan for study and career guidance is updated and known within the operations.
• Counseling sessions with students. You contribute to giving students increased knowledge and understanding of themselves, their opportunities, and their choices. This takes place through individual counseling sessions, group activities, and information sessions.
• Providing information to guardians, e.g., regarding internships and upper secondary school choices.
• Participating in meetings with teachers, students, and guardians.
• Collaborating with teachers regarding study and career guidance.
• Supporting and developing the study and career guidance work at the school.
• Administering the upper secondary school choice process.
• Collaborating with other study and career counselors in the municipality.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are educated and qualified as a study and career counselor. We want you to:

• Have the ability to build good relationships with young people and put the student at the center.
• Enjoy working in a group and collaborating with others.
• Be communicative and able to express yourself well both orally and in writing.
• Have good computer skills.

As a person, you are creative, engaged, and receptive. You work independently and in a structured manner while also having good collaboration skills.

It is desirable that you have experience working with children and young people as well as experience from working in the school world. Since you need to collaborate with guardians, other professions, and external actors, you need to be clear and receptive in your communication. You find it easy to collaborate while also being able to work independently and take initiative. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as required in daily work.

You have completed a qualification-providing education for study and career counselors.
