Nannaskolan is a lower secondary school and Uppsala's only aesthetic compulsory school, where traditional teaching is combined with aesthetic subjects such as music, dance, art and design, crafts, and drama. At Nannaskolan, music, dance, and performances are a natural part of everyday life, contributing to a vibrant and inspiring learning environment. The school shares premises with the Municipal School of Music and Arts and has close cooperation with both the School of Music and Arts and Uppsala Upper Secondary School of Aesthetic Studies, which further strengthens the aesthetic profile.

The school has a well-functioning student support team and a dedicated teaching staff that works systematically to adapt teaching to students' different needs. Collaboration, well-being, and knowledge development are at the center of the operations, and the staff is characterized by a shared responsibility for students' learning and well-being.

Description of Duties

As a student assistant, you work closely with students who have extensive physical and medical needs. The assignment involves being a safe and stable adult who supports students throughout the school day – pedagogically, socially, and practically.

The work involves providing continuous student-centered support in teaching and in the school's other activities, with a focus on strengthening students' participation and accessibility in the learning environment. The interventions are characterized by a safety-building and relationship-strengthening approach over time, where the students' needs are central. The support is adapted based on students' individual needs and daily condition.

The work also involves responsibility for daily care in the school environment and providing support for personal needs, including hygiene and care situations. You help students practically in everyday life with physical limitations and act as support in moments that require fine motor or physical assistance, as well as following and ensuring routines related to medical needs.

You will also be a support in practical moments during the school day, such as helping with materials, transfers, and other daily tasks, as well as working to strengthen students' independence to the extent possible. In your role, you become part of the school's FLEX team and contribute to joint support measures, collaborate with teachers, student health services, and other school staff, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and well-functioning learning environment.

During student-free time, duties include participating in practical work to prepare and develop the school's operations, organizing, and setting up the school's premises. This also includes performing service tasks such as furnishing and moving furniture, preparations for the start of the term, and support with cleaning and structure. Furthermore, it includes participating in and supporting work with teenagers working during holidays, such as summer job holders.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have education as a nursing assistant or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have experience working with children and teenagers, with an understanding of their development, need for support, and the importance of building safe and trusting relationships.

Furthermore, you have experience working with care and medical interventions and are confident in providing support in personal care, even in integrity-sensitive situations. You have experience handling medication according to given routines and delegation and possess good knowledge in the area. For this position, it is important to have the ability to work safely, professionally, and responsibly in care-related tasks.

You adapt easily to changed circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and approach. As a person, you are outgoing and socially active in your work. You easily establish contact with students, guardians, and colleagues.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
