The National Centre for Knowledge on Men's Violence against Women (NCK) at Uppsala University and Akademiska Sjukhuset is a national knowledge centre on men's violence against women and intimate partner violence, honour-based violence and oppression, sexual violence, as well as prostitution and human trafficking. NCK also provides support to victims of violence.

Education is one of the cornerstones of NCK's operations. Men's violence against women and intimate partner violence is a distinct interdisciplinary field of knowledge. This area is now part of university-level education across several disciplines. Knowledge about violence and its consequences is crucial for providing appropriate responses and adequate support to those who have been subjected to violence, as well as their children. Knowledge is also needed to conduct preventive work, create resources, and change attitudes in society.

Job Responsibilities

The employment includes teaching, planning, administration, and examination, primarily within the centre's courses at basic and advanced levels, as well as other educational activities directed towards healthcare, social services, the justice system, non-governmental organizations, etc. The work includes planning courses and educational initiatives in collaboration with the study director and other teachers, as well as being responsible for implementation as a course leader. Implementation of educational assignments in project form may also be relevant. The work is primarily carried out from the workplace at NCK in Uppsala. Travel within the country may occur.

The work may also involve contributing expertise in various contexts, both internally in different working groups and externally.

Qualifications

According to Section 41 of Uppsala University's Employment Regulations (AO), eligibility for appointment as a University Lecturer (Universitetsadjunkt) requires a degree from higher education and demonstrated pedagogical competence. When appointing a University Lecturer, the requirement for scientific competence is replaced by a requirement for subject specialization. According to Section 5 of the AO, a general qualification requirement for teachers is to possess the personal qualities necessary to perform the duties of the position well.

You must have completed a degree from higher education in a field relevant to the operation, such as medicine, public health science, psychology, sociology, gender studies, social work, law, or human rights.

Eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer is someone who has university credits in the field of knowledge Men's violence against women and intimate partner violence and/or documented professional experience assessed as equivalent.

Pedagogical competence must have been demonstrated through extensive merits in education according to Section 22 of the AO, or in another way within the operational area that the education concerns. You must have completed higher education pedagogical education relevant to university operations or acquired equivalent knowledge.

Since the position involves close collaboration with other teachers, the study director, and operations at NCK, great importance will be attached to personal suitability, such as good collaboration and communication skills. Flexibility and the ability to work independently with course leadership and digital systems are very significant for the employment. Experience working with deadlines and the ability to prioritize tasks are also required. The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and English. Assessment Criteria

Pedagogical competence refers to educational merits. When assessing pedagogical competence, pedagogical quality should be considered primarily. The extent, both breadth and depth, should also be given significance. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to link teaching to research, should be given significance. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also part of pedagogical competence. (Section 22 of the AO, see also Section 15 of the Administrative Procedure Act)

Documented knowledge of working with educational activities in the field of Men's violence against women and intimate partner violence, education of professionals, and experience of working in a government agency are meritorious. It is also meritorious to have documented experience of professionally working with people in crisis.

A PhD in a field that the employer considers relevant to the position is meritorious.
