Palmbladsskolan Distans is an integrated part of Palmbladsskolan and constitutes a specialized operation focused on providing distance education as special support. We work to create accessible, flexible, and individually adapted solutions for students who cannot participate in regular teaching.
The operation has a total of 90 student places, of which 60 places are intended for students from Uppsala Municipality schools and 30 places for inter-municipal students as well as students from independent providers.
Palmbladsskolan Distans was one of the first units in Sweden to establish this form of support through structured distance education within the framework of special support. This pioneering work still characterizes our operation, where we continuously develop methods and approaches to meet each student's unique prerequisites.
We are now entering our third year of operation, with a stable foundation to build upon and a clear ambition to continue leading the way in this field. Through close collaboration with the home schools' student health services, educators, and school management, we ensure high quality in both teaching and support measures.
The position is a vacation/temporary position with trust-based working hours.
Description of Duties
In this role, you will work with both teaching and the school's development work. The position combines pedagogical work, responsibility for student support, and mentoring of colleagues.
You work part-time as a teacher in Swedish or Swedish as a Second Language in a digital classroom, contributing your subject knowledge and pedagogical experience. At the same time, you have overall responsibility for the school's work with additional adjustments and special support. This means you ensure the quality of action plans and see to it that students receive the right support to reach their goals.
The role also involves being a support for your colleagues. You mentor in both individual student cases and group work, which contributes to increased learning and development throughout the operation. As a development leader, you also drive the development of distance education, focusing on quality and accessibility. An important part of the assignment is to further develop distance education as special support and create flexible solutions for students who need adapted study forms.
You are part of several central forums at the school, such as the student health team, the management group, and the school development group. There, you contribute with both pedagogical and strategic perspectives. You also participate in student enrollment as well as follow-up and evaluation of placements, which gives you a holistic view of the student's situation and the school's mission.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in special education and teacher certification with eligibility to teach in the later years of primary school or upper secondary school. Eligibility to teach Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language in the later years of primary school is considered an advantage.
You have good cooperation skills and work in a responsive and smooth manner together with colleagues, students, and other actors. Through a constructive approach, you contribute to a positive collaborative climate. You are development-oriented and actively drive the school's pedagogical development by absorbing new ideas, methods, and approaches.
You have problem-solving analytical skills that enable you to handle complex pedagogical challenges, analyze needs, and find sustainable solutions that strengthen the operation. Furthermore, you are service-oriented in your interactions, where you are calm, accommodating, and engaged in supporting both colleagues and students to create the best possible conditions for learning.
