Research and teaching are conducted within preclinical and clinical medical subjects at the Department of Biomedicine. The department is divided into the following four sections: infectious diseases, microbiology and immunology, medical chemistry and cell biology, and laboratory medicine. Currently, the department has approximately 315 employees and a turnover of approximately 450 million SEK.

Job Responsibilities

As an Education Administrator, you will process and review course syllabi together with review groups. The work involves coordinating and preparing course syllabi and ensuring they comply with current regulations and decision-making processes. You are also expected to drive and further develop the process regarding course syllabus management.

The role also includes independently handling the department's disciplinary cases. You are expected to coordinate the work regarding these cases and follow up on the next steps. You will take initiative, prepare and investigate, present matters to the Department's Management Group, write reports to the Disciplinary Board, and handle post-decision procedures. You will also participate in the Disciplinary Board's meetings when a case reaches them.

The position also involves processing appeals regarding credit transfers.

You will also serve as an administrative support for the Program Committee for the BMA program. This means you will call meetings and write minutes.

In your work, you will have close collaboration with the Education Coordinator and will also serve as their substitute. Together with the Education Coordinator, you will be part of the Sahlgrenska Academy's network for Education Administrators.

You are expected to be proactive in the development of administrative processes and routines, stay informed about steering documents and regulations for studies and education, and participate in networks, meetings, and working groups. You will have close collaboration with education administrators and education coordinators at the department, as well as other functions such as program directors, course leaders, teachers, and study counselors.

The position involves using several different systems, such as Ladok and Canvas. Archiving, diary registration, and handling of public documents are also included. Other tasks may also occur.

The entire administration for the department is located together in fresh premises in its own building, and there is always an experienced colleague nearby. We offer flexible working hours with the possibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic degree with a relevant focus for the tasks or equivalent competence assessed as comparable. Experience in handling education issues within a university or higher education institution, as well as knowledge of the laws and regulations governing university education activities, are requirements. You must also have experience in qualified administrative work and good knowledge of administrative routines, as well as good computer skills, primarily in Word, Excel, and Adobe. Previous experience with Gothenburg University's administrative systems such as Ladok and Canvas is meritorious.

As a person, we believe you are outgoing, can work independently, take initiative, and have the ability to see the big picture of the operations. You are self-reliant, efficient, meticulous, and have a structured way of working. You have good skills in planning your work and prioritizing, as well as handling many different tasks simultaneously.

The work involves many contacts both internally and externally, which places high demands on collaboration skills, being service-oriented, and having good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English. Special emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Employment

The employment is a full-time temporary position until 30/9/2027 or until the permanent employee returns to work, located at the Administrative Unit, Department of Biomedicine. Start date October 2026 or by agreement.
